What design style comes to mind? Art Deco, of course!
Art Deco is a style of design that emerged in Paris, France in the early 1920s that sought to idealize good design that was influenced by the industrial age that came before it. The style permeated interiors, print design, architecture and so much more of American culture that it has influenced artists to this day and original works are sought after by collectors.
Common motifs include glass, marble, and other lasting materials that emphasized the opulence of the time right before the Great Depression. Extravaganza temporarily died during that time, but still lives in vintage shops all around the country!
Sharing the love of this style of design is Jonathan Alexander, owner of Disco Art Deco Vintage, specializing in Art Deco furniture and interior decoration pieces. On this episode we talk about common motifs found in Art Deco, our favourite works and designers, selling vintage online, and so much more!
Enjoy darlings and galpals!
